Poor Ovarian Response Unit
The response to ovarian stimulation is a fundamental prognostic factor from the very beginning of IVF treatments. When some patients turn to IVF, their possibilities are limited by the number of eggs they have. In these cases, it is very important to define strategies which help these patients to improve their prognosis.
Ginefiv’s Poor Ovarian Response Unit works to create individualised protocols for each patient and these can include prior preparation with adjuvants, double stimulation (DUOStim), the collection of oocytes and even, in very specific cases, ovarian rejuvenation techniques.
How do we select the most suitable protocol?
The dose and type of medication must be adapted to the characteristics of each patient. Determining the ovarian reserve and the detailed study of prior treatments are essential for selecting the treatment.
On occasion, genetic testing can help us to define the best approach. This is known as applied pharmacogenetics in ovarian stimulation.
What is DUOStim?
This is a strategy for the realisation of two ovarian stimulations in the same cycle. It has numerous benefits:
- We reduce times for patients for whom time is an important factor.
- We make the treatment more accessible from a monetary perspective.
- In studies carried out by our group, ovarian response tends to improve in the second stimulation.
What is ovarian rejuvenation?
Ovarian rejuvenation or regeneration is the name we give to the set of techniques which aim to improve the functions of the ovaries, influencing the follicular development processes in order to improve ovarian response and therefore the prognosis of the treatment, especially in young patients with premature ovarian failure or very low reserve
