Egg donation

Ginefiv’s oocyte reception or egg donation programme began in 1991 and was one of the pioneers in Spain. It has been accepting patients from all over the world for over 15 years. Egg reception is a simple and very effective process which enables many couples to fulfil their dream of having a child via the adoption of eggs from a healthy and fertile donor.

Who is the egg donation programme aimed at?

The egg donation programme is aimed at:

  • Couples whose sterility problem can be resolved by replacing the partner’s eggs with those of a young, healthy and fertile donor.
  • Couples who run the risk of transmitting genetic disorders to their offspring and who can replace their eggs with those from our bank of genetically tested eggs.

What are the benefits of the egg donation programme?

All Ginefiv donors are subject to exhaustive medical checks which include:

  • Interviews and psychological tests to guarantee their mental health.
  • Medical tests to guarantee their physical health.
  • Gynaecological tests to guarantee their fertility.
  • Genetic screening to identify any genetic mutations.

We guarantee total safety with our IVF Patrol system which monitors and safely identifies all the samples, and we always make our best efforts to offer the egg donation programme at the most affordable price.

We currently offer two types of egg donation, each with different guarantees: The Premium Egg Donation Programme, which obtains an average of 3 blastocysts and an accumulated pregnancy rate of over 80%. And the 1 Blastocyst Guaranteed Programme in which we assure you that by transfer day we will have at least 1 embryo in the blastocyst phase. This option has an accumulated success rate of 50% to 60%.

Thanks to our large donor bank, we can guarantee that:

  • You will easily find donors with your phenotype (with our RDRP system) and with a compatible blood type.
  • You can start the treatment whenever you want

What does the egg donation programme consist of?

Despite its complexity and thoroughness, Ginefiv’s egg donation programme is designed to be extremely simple, comfortable and adapted to the needs of each patient. The programme consists of:

First consultation

During their first visit to Ginefiv, our medical team will personally assess each patient and their partner in order to offer a treatment that is suited to their needs. There is no waiting list for this appointment.

A doctor specialising in assisted reproduction analyses the medical history and prior medical tests, if any, and then carries out a gynaecological ultrasound on the patient. Supplementary diagnostic tests are also run for both members of the couple, if necessary.

Unlike conventional IVF treatments, patients who join this programme do not have to undergo ovarian stimulation, making it a much simpler and more comfortable process for the woman.

The RDRP assignation system

Thanks to our RDRP (the Right Donor for the Right Patient) assignation system, we can easily find the perfect donor for you:

  • Ginefiv has one of the biggest egg donor banks in Spain, which gives us the opportunity to easily find donors with a phenotype and blood group that is compatible with the receiver. At Ginefiv, all donors are classified by their features and also photographed in order to be able to find the one who looks the most like the receiver, before starting the treatment.
  • Additionally, Ginefiv runs a genetic analysis on all donors, allowing it to perform the Genetic Compatibility Test (GCT) which has the objective of finding a genetically compatible donor, thus minimising the risk of transmitting any discovered genetic disorders to the child.

1. Looking for a donor

We have one of the biggest gamete donor banks in Spain.

2. Compatibility check

We can easily find donors with a blood group and phenotype that is compatible with the receiver.

3. Physical appearance comparison

Our donors are photographed so that we can find one who is a physical match for the patient.

4. Donor genetic analysis

Donors undergo a genetic analysis to avoid the transmission of any genetic disorders

How do we select egg donors?

Our programme for the selection of egg donors is extremely rigorous. All egg donors follow the steps below before donating their eggs at Ginefiv:

They are interviewed by a doctor from the medical team to find out about any possible personal or familial history of congenital diseases. Donors in our egg donation programme must be aged between 18 and 35, they must have no personal or familial history of serious hereditary disease, they must have no gynaecological disorders and they must not be the carrier of any sexually transmitted diseases.

We observe the phenotypical characteristics of the donor and take photos so that we can find the best possible match to our patients.

An interview is carried out by a psychologist to guarantee the donor’s mental health.

Comprehensive gynaecological testing is performed, including an ultrasound and an analysis of the donor’s ovarian reserve.

The necessary medical tests are run to find out the blood group and karyotype, and to rule out any possible infectious diseases.

Genetic testing is carried out to detect any possible mutations.

Treatment

Despite its complexity and thoroughness, Ginefiv’s egg donation programme is designed to be extremely simple, comfortable and adapted to the needs of each patient. There are no waiting lists to start treatment.

This system guarantees a constant control of the samples, thereby avoiding any incidents in the identification of gametes and embryos. IVF Patrol uses a radiofrequency system to provide traceability throughout the treatment, allowing us to offer an extraordinary guarantee of safety

Confirmation of pregnancy

If the result of the free Beta hCG test (a blood test) is positive, 7-10 days later we will perform an ultrasound to check the gestational sack. If everything goes well, it is at this point when you can continue monitoring your pregnancy with your usual gynaecologist.

The results of egg donation

Our ample experience, gained from over 35 years in assisted reproduction and more than 3500 treatments performed every year, along with our ability to access the most recent technological advances enable us to offer our patients the best success rates for each treatment we offer. This is a programme that has excellent results: the pregnancy rate per cycle is 75% and the accumulated pregnancy rate of 3 cycles is over 90%.
